Another list (sorry) that simply goes over the stuff I want in android, or its apps. This is a list that is sort of contextually relevant to people that already play with the phone, I don’t do much explaining.

• Shazam should search for lyrics too
• Compare everywhere doesnt seem to search for everything I scan
• The mail client should let me accept my locally signed ssl cert (this really angers me)
• I want an app like cellfinder, but that will let me mark a waypoint (like my car) to come back to later
• I want a turn-by-turn gps app that WORKS. andnav2 is ricketty at best (yes I know its not GA yet)
• I want a hacker toolkit. I want bluesnarfing and metasploiting ability (bluesnarfing more than anything else though)
• I want a screenshot app that works without needing root
• Twidroid needs some help with UX - I’d love to help (if they’re listening)
• The facebook app is limited, you cant comment on statuses properly, not all profile data is shown etc
• I want a radio kill switch. I want something I can ‘flip’ to ‘turn off internet’ and have there be no network communication via the GSM radio (for example if I go to the UK). I don’t want to rack up a bill ‘just because’.
• The camera needs more controls - as it stands the camera is slow and not very sensitive. It’s hard to take a picture when it’s dark out and the way twidroid interfaces with the camera is frustrating. Sometimes it just ‘ignores’ the pictures I take
• I want to be able to kill apps. As it stands theres no way to exit an application by way of android - only if the application itself has an ‘exit’ button. ( a task manager would be nice)
• I want video capture (expected in a later release, I know)
• I want flash in the browser (expected, yes)
• I’d like the ringtone to play the minute the phone starts ringing, not 10 seconds into it.
• I’d love a sql injection toolkit for the thing that actually does character encoding (actually I’d love this for my mac too, realistically)
• I want a to-do application that syncs with google so I can have a unified todo/calendar solution

Now, to find some android developers and learn what kind of boozes they like…

I got my G1 a couple weeks ago, but I had to unlock it to use it on AT&T until my contract expires - so I had to sit on the thing and whimper about not being able to use it right away.

It’s been a week and here’s a bullet point list of my observations:
(Theres going to be a much longer in-depth review coming soon too, this is just a quickie)

• MUCH faster than my old phone (tilt, running windows mobile 6.1)
• Screen is brighter - easier to see during the day
• GPS actually works, and kicks on REALLY fast
• OH GOD IT UPDATES OVER THE AIR! SOOOO awesome. And I dont have to format the thing or plug it into a computer. It just does its thing, reboots, and its updated.
• Marketplace should have been a standard feature on every phone since the inception of the ’smart phone’. I can install any apps on the fly and I dont need a computer.

Now, for a few gripes - or feature requests:

• First and foremost I want to be able to save apps to the SD card like windows mobile can, or even to install them to the card, rather - I understand the security concerns for this but realistically people dont swap Sd cards out often. I only did on my old phone to do upgrades and backups - 90% of the time the card stayed in my phone. Theres a wiki with some howto hackery that shows one how to get this done now, but this requires a bit of voodoo that not everyone wants to do
• I wish that twitdroid worked as advertised. I get notifications that its fetched new tweets, so I open it up and I dont see any new tweets - I have to manually refresh. ANNOYING
• Twitroid needs to display the DMs in-line like twhirl, and not force me to go to another tab to see them.
• I wish twitdroid would tell me if I’ve hit my API limit, sometimes it just ‘does nothing’ and I don’t know whats up.
• Twitdroid needs better pic integration - ditch phodroid and use twitpic like everyone else. Phodroid is lame cuz you cant see the full resolution of the pics, or post pics from a computer.
• Twitdroid needs to increase the size of the ‘reply’ buttons so you can actually hit them with your fingers. Theyre too tiny
• Shazam is badass but I wish it had a ‘lyrics’ feature. Great that it shows me where to buy the track it’s identified or where to find the music video, but what if I’m in the car and I just want to sing along?
• I want an application JUST LIKE cellfinder, but that lets you ’set a waypoint’ (or two.. or three?) perhaps give it a nickname or a tag, and let you wander away and come back later - for example - leaving your car in a gigantic parking lot - mark your cars location and title it ‘car’. The G1 has a compass built in which makes finding shit FUCKING AWESOME. I totally want to get into geocaching with this thing (thanks Sally for this idea, it rocks!)

Now I just wish that I had some developer types that were willing to help me churn out apps that I’ve come up with. I’ve had a few badass ideas already.

I’ve been cooking for years. It’s only as of late I’ve started to actually photograph my work and document the how-to. Until ph00d.com gets properly up to speed and we get a recipe database setup I guess this will have to do!

You can imagine what it’s like to have ~500 people mobbing the streets in LA, sure.

Can you imagine it if they were all in santa costumes?
